New Leaf Farm
New Leaf Farm is a small, diversified family farm in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut. We left the city 12 years ago and decided to turn over a new leaf" by starting a family in the country. Farming, even in a small way, has helped us we see our land, the weather and our food in a whole new way. Despite all the work and the setbacks, the joy of our children when they see a new lamb born or sap turn into maple syrup before their eyes makes it all worth it.
We raise registered Icelandic sheep, assorted heritage chickens and honey bees; we also produce maple syrup and have over 20 varieties of heirloom apples. We approach farming in natural way with all our animals being pasture raised and practice Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which we believe produces superior results and keeps all facets of our farm in balance.
We have chosen to focus on heritage breeds and and heirloom fruit as way of reintroducing diversity to the food chain and fit well into our New England environment. Our friends and customers can see the care and pride that we take with our business and think it is reflected in the quality of what we produce.
We welcome visitors and love to talk about the choices we have made as we continue to expand our reach and knowledge with help and support from interested people near and far.
